<p align="left"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"></span><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Coast Guard aircrews and boatcrews have conducted several patrols of flood-affected areas along the Sheyenne, Red, and James rivers and have rescued two adult females&nbsp;since Monday, April 16, 2009.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong>ST. LOUIS</strong> - As of 4:45 p.m. the Coast Guard&nbsp;has&nbsp;rescued&nbsp;two adult females&nbsp;from flood-affected areas in Lisbon, N.D. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">An airboat crew from Station Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., accompanied by two U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service airboats, a Coast Guard Disaster Assistance Response Team, and a smallboat from Coast Guard Cutter Scioto rescued a mother and daughter from their adjacent mobile homes when flood waters from the Sheyenne River began flowing between them.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The boat&nbsp;crews were conducting training in a flooded field approximately 7 miles northeast of Lisbon, N.D., when a man approached them notifying them of the two women in distress. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Coast Guard airboat then rescued the women and transferred them to Ransom County sheriffs, who brought them safely to a shelter at Lisbon High School.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Due to&nbsp;current high-water conditions&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<st1:placename w:st="on">Sheyenne</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">River</st1:placetype> and the expected high-water conditions&nbsp;in the <st1:place w:st="on">Red River</st1:place>, the Coast Guard is working with various federal, state and local agencies in preparation&nbsp;of flood operations.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Coast Guard crews have been deployed to Emergency Operations Centers in <st1:state w:st="on">North Dakota</st1:state> to coordinate response efforts with local and state&nbsp;officials.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p align="left"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><strong>ST LOUIS&nbsp;</strong>- The Coast Guard has established an Incident Command Post in&nbsp;preparation for the high-water conditions in the&nbsp;Sheyenne and Red Rivers,&nbsp;which runs through Minnesota and North Dakota.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;">Due to&nbsp;current high-water conditions&nbsp;in the&nbsp;Sheyenne River and the expected high-water conditions&nbsp;in the Red River, the Coast Guard is working with various federal, state and local agencies in preparation&nbsp;of flood operations.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p align="left"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><strong>GRAND FORKS,&nbsp;N.D.&nbsp;</strong>- The Coast Guard along with Oslo, Minn., and Marshall County emergency responders are&nbsp;staging efforts&nbsp;to&nbsp;respond in&nbsp;Oslo,&nbsp;Friday, April 4, 2009, as part of the Red River&nbsp;flood response operation.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Two Coast Guard 18-foot airboats and&nbsp;crews are&nbsp;underway&nbsp;searching flood-affected areas in Oslo.&nbsp; The crews are conducting welfare checks and in some instances delivering medical supplies. </span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">The Coast Guard has begun demobilizing&nbsp;units that responded to the flooding operations in Grand Forks and&nbsp;Fargo, N.D.,&nbsp;as water levels on the Red River in flood&nbsp;affected areas continue to fall. </span></p>

Many local residents have found themselves stranded after the recent devastating floods and snowstorms. Rescue teams comprised of the U.S. Coast Guard, The Fish and Wildlife Service, Customs and Border Patrol, Cass County and Grand Forks Sheriff&rsquo;s Department, Valley Rescue Service and several other local, state and federal agencies have saturated the area for more than a week rescuing residents from the flooded homes and working to restore the community.
